Cenobamate is indicated for the treatment of focal (partial-onset) seizures in adults with epilepsy, especially in patients whose seizures are not well controlled with other anti-seizure medicines. It is used as an add-on (adjunct) therapy, meaning it is usually taken along with other epilepsy medications to help reduce how often seizures happen and how severe they are. Cenobamate works by helping to stabilize abnormal electrical activity in the brain, which lowers the chance of seizures occurring.

Dosage:   

Cenobamate has to take orally once daily with or without food.

Treatment usually begins with 12.5 mg once daily for the first 2 weeks, then the dose is gradually increased every 2 weeks (to 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg, and 150 mg) until reaching a usual maintenance dose of 200 mg once daily, which most patients stay on. If seizures are still not well controlled and the medicine is tolerated, the dose may be increased further, up to a maximum of 400 mg once daily, under close medical supervision. Cenobamate can be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day.
