Osimertinib, generic Tagrisso is a prescription medicine used to treat advanced or metastatic epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) T790M mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
If you have non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with certain abnormal EGFR gene(s), you may be prescribed Osimertinib. EGFR is a protein that can make lung cancer cells grow and spread. Osimertinib is a medicine that blocks EGFR and helps to control lung cancer. You can take Osimertinib:

• to lower the chance of your lung cancer coming back after surgery to remove your tumor(s), or
• as your first treatment if your lung cancer has advanced or metastasized (spread to other parts of the body), or
• if your lung cancer has advanced or metastasized and previous EGFR inhibitors did not work or stopped working

Dosage:

Osimertinib has to take orally once daily with or without food.
If you cannot swallow the tablet whole, follow these steps: 
1 Add the tablet to a container with a small amount of still water (2 ounces/60 milliliters). 
2 Stir well until the tablet splits into small pieces. The tablet will not melt completely. Do not crush, heat or use ultrasound on the tablet. 
3 Drink all of the water with the tablet pieces right away. 
4 Add at least another half glass of water 120 milliliters to the container and drink it to ensure you get the full dose of the medicine. Use only still water for mixing, and do not mix it before you need it. You can also administer the mixture through a tube into the stomach (nasogastric tube). If you are using a nasogastric tube, ask your healthcare professional for detailed instructions on how to administer it.

The most common adverse reactions (≥25%) of Osimertinib are:
Diarrhea, rash, dry skin, nail toxicity, stomatitis, and reduced appetite.
